EV conversion parts, design and consulting

About:

During a 2018 surf trip through baja Mexico, i came across an Subaru brat.. after driving it 2000Km+ back to Vancouver island, it was tired. I had come across the openinverter project and some work done on reverse engineering the Nissan Leaf drive train. BC was the EV capital at the time, thus lots of 1st gen EV parts were available in wrecking yards. 400$ later I had a leaf motor sitting in my garage. I spent the next few years building and documenting the Brat. After designing some custom drive train components for the leaf motor, folks on the openinverter forum reached out wanting leaf couplers. I made 10, which just covered the initial costs of machining and materials. The demand grew. I was now spending more time developing EV drive train parts, than I was working on the brat. This “little” business needed a name…. and with EVs turning the automotive industry on its head, while pissing a lot of people off, BRAT industries seemed fitting ๐Ÿ˜Ž

In April 2025 I moved into a larger shop space in partnership with Quentines Garage. where we are focusing on VW and Landrover platforms.

Shipping:

Parts are shipped via Canada Post, and we can ship pretty much any where in the world!

I generally try to ship orders with in a day or 2 once they are placed (if parts are in stock). Sometimes I am away from the shop (I really enjoy the outdoors). store notices will have the latest info on shipping dates.

International orders to places such as Australia or the the UK can sometimes take a few months to arrive. Once the packet leaves Canada, its fully out of our hands, and not all shipping options come with tracking.

There has never been any lost packages in the mail (or at least no one has reported it) but there has been cases of parts sometimes taking a few months to arrive intentionally.

I use Canada post because they are significantly cheaper than UPS and fedex. Remember, theses parts are large and metal, so shipping can get pricey via other options.
